The most easily bingeable shows are ones where nothing much happens, and a slightly heavy-handed tone and some directorial skill is sufficient to hypnotize viewers. (Think of House of Cards, the Law & Order franchises, or pretty much any Marvel show.) This makes sense, since TV thrives on delivering essentially the same product in every episode with only slight tweaks to prevent viewers from getting bored. In this respect, Search Party is surprisingly difficult to watch all at once. Rather than plodding toward a single plot beat, the show takes enough twists and turns that watching the entire series at once feels like a genuine 'binge'—fun in the moment, but kind of sickening when you finish. When a TV show, it invites binge-viewing as a way of consuming only the most important narrative facts and ignoring everything else; it suggests you might be better served your time by simply reading the episode summaries on Wikipedia and not wasting your time. Regardless of the way it's been scheduled, Search Party thankfully does not want to be watched this way.
